Bought separately, the three products come to $86. The set is $96 — the difference is the rigid gift box, insert and card. If you do not need the box, buy the three separately.
Because it contains matches, this set ships by ground service only.
The product record
Everything we know about this product, stated plainly. The same record is printed on the card in the box.
- Made of
- Borealis Candle 8 oz (soy and coconut wax, cotton wick, smoke-blue frosted glass, brass lid); stainless-steel wick trimmer with brushed brass finish; glass match cloche on a brushed-brass striker base with about 40 long safety matches. Rigid card gift box with a fitted insert.
- Dimensions
- Candle 3.1 in Ø × 3.7 in · trimmer 7 in · cloche 3.1 in Ø × 5.5 in · box 11 × 8.3 × 4.3 in
- Weight
- About 2 lb 10 oz boxed
- Burn time
- Candle: approximately 50 hours, measured in 4-hour burns with the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch.
- Scent notes
- Top: cold air, bergamot · Heart: black spruce, fir needle · Base: vetiver, oakmoss
- Finish & variation
- The candle will frost and may show wet spots against the glass; the brass finishes darken with handling. See each product's own page for its full record.
- Made
- Hand-poured in small batches in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Care & burning
- First burn: let the wax melt all the way to the edge before you put it out — usually 2 to 3 hours for this size. A short first burn leaves a tunnel down the middle that the candle never recovers from.
- Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before every burn. A long wick smokes, flickers and blackens the vessel.
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time, then let the candle cool completely before relighting.
- Trim the wick with the trimmer only when the candle is cold.
- Keep the match cloche dry, and strike away from you.
Safety & cautions
- Never leave a burning candle unattended, and never burn one while you sleep.
- Keep away from drafts, curtains, shelves overhead and anything that can catch. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface. The vessel gets hot — do not move it while it is lit or while the wax is liquid.
- Stop burning when 1/2 inch of wax remains. Below that the base of the vessel can overheat and crack, or scorch what it is standing on.
- Never use water to put out a candle. Do not put the lid on while it is still burning.
- If the flame flickers, smokes or stands taller than about 1 inch, put it out, let it cool, trim the wick and relight.
- Matches are a fire hazard. Keep the cloche out of reach of children, and never drop a spent match into the wax pool.
- The trimmer blades are sharp.
- Contains matches, so it ships by ground service only. A set ships as one parcel; if one item arrives damaged we replace that item, not the set.
